Homesick, Sleep Deprived, Educated and Behind

That was a mouthful, but it pretty much describes my week.  It has been so long since I have posted on this blog and I really don't know where all of the time has gone.  We have been pretty busy at the studio with some projects that took a lot of time, so I will just blame it on that.  I really don't know why we always dread the cold winter months so much because they never last too long.

This past weekend the Georgia Professional Photographers Association had its annual convention in Athens.  This year I served as the Trade Show chairman and had to spend a lot of time in and around the trade show.  Even though I only spent one night in Athens it was easy for me to get a little homesick.  I really missed my regular routine at the studio and with Chance and the girls.  Letting everything go for a few days at my desk wasn't the end of the world, I am almost caught up already.  The convention had some really good talent from all over the United States and touched almost every aspect of photography.  The last program, as is almost always the case, was the best to me.  The program started out pretty basic but about midway into it changed dramatically.  Of a little over 300 people that had signed up and come to parts of the convention only about 75 or so were left for this part, and it was the part that everyone in this profession needed.  Overall it was a great weekend with a lot of great friends that we don't get to see nearly enough.  Luckily I have great friends like them and know that if I ever needed anything they would be there for me.

All in all a little homesickness, sleep deprivation and getting a little behind with my work taught me a lot.  I learned a lot about the importance of friendships.  I learned a lot about the importance of continuing my education.  And I learned that if I get a little behind that it isn't the end of the world, sometimes there are more important things.
