Someone New On The Island

This has taken a long time to finally get here, but here is part 10 of our history.

Fall 1986

In the spring of 1986 we had an application from someone that was a photography student at East Tennessee State University.  The odd thing was his name was Chance but there was a photo attached of a girl.  I was out on the day Chance came for the interview but met her when they all came to Spankey's for lunch, the next time you are in the studio you will have to ask here about that.  Over the next few weeks it was my job to teach her how we shot and what all she was supposed to do, and not do.  As the summer progressed her photography was so good you couldn't tell a difference in hers and the other full time photographers.  We spent a lot of time working together that summer and at Brogen's after work.  Finally in August as she was about to go back to Tennessee I asked her out on an "official" date.

In September Chance transferred to Georgia Southern to be closer to St. Simons, and me.  Over the next few months we continued to date either at St Simons or trips to Savannah.  Just after Christmas I made the trip to The Shane Company in Atlanta.  On Feburary 28 I took her for a walk on the beach and asked her to marry me and we were married on August 16, 1987.

Soon more changes were on the way.
